This website is for those that want to do work on their Cadillac. To repair and also to upgrade and modify and improve. Those that see OEM is gods and anything that does not conform with their dictates as snake oil and scams may lose sleep with this content.  Those that subscribe to the OEM religions will make some of the following statements which will alert you to their syndrome. They will discourage anyone from violating the sacred OEM scriptures. Commonly heard among them are statements  or questions similar to this.

- If that improved the MPG why don't the manufacturers have it in already?

Answer.  Manufacturers and Oil companies are on the same board of directors, better mileage equals less profit for the oil company. So they decide what MPG the cars get that are sold to the public.  Only 10% of the gas going into the engine makes the car go. the rest is wasted and burned up in the catalytic converter. That leaves a lot of room for improvement for those that know how.

- If that part is so much better why aren't the car companies putting them in?

Answer:  The car companies make a lot of cars, cost of a part that is only a dollar more costs them 100s of thousands of dollars. And they make most of their money on repairs through the dealerships. So they make failure points that increases their profit margins.  Like the crossover gaskets on the Northstar engine.
